Most of our residential work in Oakland is replacing concrete that came with the house: a cracked driveway, a broken front walk, uneven steps, a patio that tilts. The housing here is old. Many flatland homes are around a hundred years old, and their original concrete was thin and poured straight onto the soil.
Each part of the city has its own pattern. In Rockridge, Temescal and Glenview we see narrow driveways and root-lifted walks. In Montclair, Oakmore and the Laurel hills we see steep drives, failing garden walls and drainage trouble. In East Oakland and Fruitvale we often replace whole driveways and add parking pads. We look at the lot as a whole so one fix does not create a problem somewhere else.
We are licensed and insured, and every job starts with a free visit, measurements and a written quote. If work reaches the public sidewalk or curb, we handle the City permit. We protect gardens and neighboring property, and we clean up when we finish.
Residential concrete in Oakland: common questions
Can you do several small jobs in one visit?
Yes, and it usually makes sense. Steps, a walk and a few driveway panels can share one setup and one concrete delivery.
Do I need to be home during the work?
Not all day. We need access, a water tap and a way to reach you by phone. We do ask you to be there at the start to confirm the layout.
How do you handle a shared driveway?
We talk with both owners before we start, agree on access and timing, and put in writing who is paying for what.
